The complete product life cycle in harmony with nature - that is the goal of eco-designers.

„This master's programme is unique in the German-speaking area and offers graduates excellent career prospects. Eco-designers facilitate early implementation of ecological and sustainable development strategies in companies. This takes place simultaneously on the level of environmental performance, sustainability management and product-related environmental protection", says Program Director Gerald Götz, MSc.

The study programme opens up a wide area of operation in the field of environment and economy. From ecological product development to environmental management, from process optimization to re-design of services. Overall, Eco-Design aims for a balance between economic needs and ecological considerations. Above all, customer requirements, competitive positions, social expectations, legal obligations, and  (environmental) technical possibilities play a major role. The biggest challenges to the Eco-design are certainly new residential and transport concepts.

Products, Systems & Services are designed across the entire product life cycle in terms of sustainability.

The main objective of Eco-design is to re-design possible environmentally and socially responsible products that are perceived in the market as sustainable, and thus provide a competitive advantage.

The study programme lasts 4 Semesters, after which graduates attain the academic title of Master of Science in Natural Sciences (MA). Eligibility requirements to apply to the programme are: Degree certificate of a relevant Bachelor programme with minimum 180 ECTS, or an equivalent post-secondary education.
